Animations
Animations intended for short GIF form. These works are particularly inspired by the 2D animation techniques used by Mamoru Oshii and other animators from the 80s and 90s and the cosmic horror genre among other horror styles. They all have over dramatic Dark Soul’s boss style names.
Selected pieces are displayed in video format due to size and bitrate restrictions imposed by web-hosting for the GIFS. Due to the Confetti Effect some of these animations with a high amount of movement are recommended to be viewed in the highest resolution setting available to help compensate for the web video encoder’s imposed limits on bitrate.
Devourer’s Dance of Grace
This piece aims to capture an atmosphere of the darker areas of cosmic horror combined with a sense of absolute destruction in neon light.
Sorrow Breach
Piece exploring the aesthetics related to Dark Art and finding ways to bring that traditionally still art into animation. Combined with inspiration from Lovecraftian horror.
Shifting Depths to Turmoil
Another animation strongly inspired by the art style seen in some Mamoru Oshii’s films such as Angel’s Egg. Its aims for an atmosphere between those things celestial, angelic, and hidden in the deep.
Kotan’s Second Curse
Work partially inspired by far older styles of animation with a more haunting aspect attached to it. The idea is that if you can recognize the daemon’s eyes in the video, it will follow you one day to a dreamless sleep that only awakens with a scream.
Hedron Series #3
One of the works from experimenting with the relations of light and textures. This simple piece aims to capture the mood commonly created by backlighting techniques used in animations froms the 80s and 90s.
Additional Animations
Below is an additional collection of my animations consisting of other past works, random experimenting, alternative approaches to some of the pieces, and even some current works in progress.
